MedAire offers a variety of maritime training courses designed to give crewmembers the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and manage illness and injuries. Developed by medical experts who understand remote medical care—as well as stringent maritime regulations—crewmembers will receive hands-on, comprehensive medical instruction, specifically tailored for the maritime environment.



       MedAire’s medical instructor trains the crew on board.               Crew watch the instructor apply a cervical collar.             Hands-on skills are used to

Course features:
  • Approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and/or U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and standardized by the STCW code set in 1995
  • Medical instructors are certified critical-care professionals who are experienced in the unique challenges facing caregivers in the maritime environment
  • Training takes place on your vessel or at one our approved training locations
  • Certification from European Resuscitation Council or American Heart Association after course completion

Student will learn to:

  • Recognize, manage and cope with illness and injury (i.e., asthma, burns, cardiac arrest, choking, shock, etc.)
  • Find and use onboard medical equipment
  • Practice a medical scenario by calling a doctor at MedAire’s MedLink Global Response Center
  • Study the most current medical issues
  • Manage patient care based on real-life medical events

  • 8-hour Elementary First Aid
  • 21-hour Proficiency in Medical First Aid*

  • 35-hour Proficiency in Medical Care on Board Ship*
  • 21-hour Proficiency in Medical Care on Board Ship Refresher*
